La Ligne is fun to find on eBay! In case anyone would like to search for secondhand versions. They also have a ReLigne section on the site with good finds.
Haven’t tried La Linge yet, but was looking at sweater yesterday, love hearing the positive feedback. Love that you included Lou Lou Studio in your sweater recommendations, I have a few and love!
ok, wow. WOW. I've been seriously considering a (different) wool sweater from &Daughter due to their wonderful colors and classic cut, but the pilling on yours is outrageous. I'm not a knit wear expert, but I have old PRL and J Crew 100% lambswool sweaters (even LL Bean for heaven's sake) that barely pill and wear like iron so I wonder if it is the length of the fibers or the twist of the yarn or something that makes them stay smooth and wear so well. I have zero intent to purchase &Daughter now after seeing that photo (thank you!)....I considered it an expensive sweater (therefore, quality?? smh). Maybe I'll try one off TRR or something first.
Yes I wouldn’t spend the $400 on another 100% lambswool but reading other people’s experience makes me think I should try another fabric content? The cuts are beautiful.
I have a couple of sweaters from &Daughter - I think one is merino and the other says wool, so neither is the same fabric as Kelly's - they haven't pilled much at all, and don't require any special maintenance, and I absolutely love them. The pilling on that one looks bad, though - I wonder if Geelong has a shorter fiber because it's softer than regular lambswool?
I wore the Marin to death last winter and it still looks great. Can also recommend the Lisa Yang Sony for a similarly BIFL knit! (she’s pricey but I found her on huge discount on SSENSE)
Thank you for this insightful review—I loved reading it! La Ligne Marin has been on my wishlist for ages. Earlier this summer, I bought a Jenny Kayne crewneck (not cashmere) from TRR, and it’s been my go-to for cool nights. I’ve had my eye on the Marin, so I really appreciate your detailed feedback. I’m also short-waisted, so I found it particularly helpful to know that you went with the original length and liked it. I’ve been debating whether the mini might be a better fit for me.
Also, thanks for the comparison with &Daughter wear. The potential for pilling has been my biggest hesitation in investing in a quality cashmere-like sweater. I purchased a J.Crew crewneck cashmere sweater last November, and by the end of the season, it was completely pilled—I was so disappointed. I admit, I’m not the best about sweater maintenance (I usually clean them maybe once a season), so I’m cautious about making another investment.
Honestly I have always been slow to buy sweaters (especially since most are $300 minimum) because of the piling so you are right for being hesitant. I've looked at Jenni Kayne stuff too so maybe I need to check out TRR!
I’ve been eyeing sweaters from La Ligne since last fall, so I very much appreciate this recap. Also I gasped at the side by side of the sweaters and the pilling.

Oh yes! ReLigne is so smart of them and a great place to get one since they hold up so well.

My friend has the Bruzzi that I included here and I am obsessed every time she wears.
I have the Bruzzi in black and I think it’s probably my most worn last year, it’s just easy.

This is great feedback! I would be interested in some of their other styles if I knew it would hold up better. I need to look for the merino!
I will throw out a rave for Soft Goat sweaters-- they are truly incredible and worth every penny.
You are the first person I saw recommend and now it’s top of my wishlist. Maybe because Goat is in the name but I have to ask, is it itchy?
Not at all! It's super soft!

Wow. The pilling comp! What a difference. Thank you! XX
I know!! Honestly breaks my heart on the &daughter because it’s a sumptuous color!
Love this sweater- it’s such a good one!
Let’s start a club 😂👯
Oh this is interesting. My La Ligne Marin sweater pilled terribly after only a few hours of wear. It’s soft but I wouldn’t buy again.
FASCINATING! Out of curiosity; when did you buy yours? I find that fabrication differences year over year really make a difference.
This was so timely! I have the Marin and the &daughter sweater in my cart right now and have been debating them all week. Thanks for the great review.
Sooo glad this was helpful. I’m sad that I can’t report better on &Daughter but it makes the La Ligne that much better.

I adore Lisa Yang cashmere, I had a cashmere tank top (sounds ironic!) but it's such soft, sturdy cashmere.

Didn't it break your heart a bit! A gorgeous sweater that, sadly, isn't going to stand the test of time!
I have 4 La Ligne sweaters! And am looking to add at least one more to my collection this season
Glad to know the obsession lasts 😉
Has anyone here tried the cotton version? I am very allergic to wool and cashmere but I love the silhouette!!
Yay for sweater weather. Also… what colour is the nail polish? X
Thank you for not judging me for the chips! It’s Sally Hansen Pure in Blue Moonstone, got it from Walgreens 😂
Typing with nails in a similar state 😂
This sweater is so great! I have the cropped version as well. It’s such a great cut.
Do you like the cropped version? I am very interested in it but don’t want to show off my whole stomach when I raise my arms 😂
Lol yes I love it but I’m 5’2 so it hits right at my waistline. Def shows a little stomach if I lift my arms but it’s sort of cute
