This is the review I’ve been looking for! The Marcelle pants look SO good on you. Very tempted to get a pair (if I can find them!) and it’s helpful to know you sized down.

Thank you!! SO happy this helped. I have a feeling you would love them because they are such a classic pant but with a twist.

I have the velvet brylies! I would submit a review but it’s asking me for my Google QR code which I…don’t have. I am 5’ 116-120lbs and 27-29” waist - the size 4 fits perfectly. I did have to get about 4” hemmed but that didn’t affect the way it hangs. The pants do wrinkle quite a bit but it doesn’t look bad and overall I have heard these are better than the Shons fit wise for petites, so I’m pretty happy with them!

I bought one pair of these Marcelle pants and loved them so much I bought three more colors. Now that it's finally warmer out I've worn and washed 2 light colored pairs once each and both are in terrible condition--ruined! I washed on cold, hung to dry, turned inside out, and both are blotchy and just look like the color ran unevenly or that they're bleached out in spots. It's legit unwearable. At $250 a pop I'm devastated and $1000 in on pants that I'm completely afraid to clean. I've reached out to Citizens by contact form on website and instagram and no reply at all!

ASHLEY! YOU ARE KIDDING?! No reply at all from CoH! I'm devastated to hear that since I am such a champion of the Marcelle. To be fair, I only own the green color and haven't had any trouble washing/hanging dry. Still; I'm heartbroken for you!!!

I have 2 pair of Shon’s and love the off white ones that my husband bought me! more. Same size from ebay and they are shorter- wth? Annoying. But I wear them traveling and am comfy. And they are keeping my legs covered so that’s good!

The Ayla’s from COH- i LOVE and paid full price from Shopbop and got a lovely off white color - it might be called Pashmina? - anyway, I noticed that they had a weird stain on the thigh and the fifth pocket on the left side is kind of wonky. I had already worn them and wash them so I didn’t think of taking it up with Shopbop and I’ve just decided to act as if they’re fine. FWIW I get compliments on them from men and women every time I wear them! So that’s something.

Ok I have a review of the Shon’s coming from someone who also owns multiple pairs. I’m preparing myself to be influenced to buy 😂

I am definitely in my Kooky Pant Era so I have and love both the Marcelle and the Shon (as well as the CoH horseshoe...)

I think some of how they wear/look is dependent on body shape. I am 5'6" and usually an 8-10, cursed (blessed?) with both ass and hips, but have a fairly flat chest. For me, both pants balance me out a little. (Not that it's about attempting to look like I have an hourglass or slim, but just a matter of proportions.)

My mom, much shorter and with more of a straight up and down figure, looks overwhelmed in the Shon but loves the B-Sides slim lasso and the Velvet Brylies, probably because it's less fabric.

Some of what I like about all pants in this arena is that they do the heavy lifting for an outfit—like you can pile on accessories and such and it's fine, but if you're just wearing a t-shirt (my usual vibe), you still look like you made an effort.

I also love many iterations of Rachel Comey's kooky pants, but that is another story...

Glad to hear that we are in the same club! You are so right that each of these pants reads totally different depending on height and body composition but once someone finds the right pair for them, they are an instant outfit maker. I think that's my favorite thing about them, there is an effortless polish to them. Polish isn't even the right word because that implies tailoring in my mind, but I feel like you get my point!

I'm curious why you prefer the Marcelle pants over the Shon pants!

Admittedly I didn’t pick the best color to buy the Shons in (that’s MY fault) but I think the Marcelle shape is just less exaggerated which makes it easier to wear day after day. (AND a good friend told me I looked like a was wearing a diaper in the Shons I never got over it) 😂 Do you have the Shons? I would LOVE a review of them since they always come up in chats?!

I have the shons in two colors and adore them! One is 1-2 sizes down, one is 0-1 sizes down (in between a 27-28, so I have a 2 and a 4. I have a small waist, larger hips and could easily wear a 0). I think my measurements are 26/38.5-39, I’m 5’7” and 125. Structurally they are a little goofy and I love how they hit at the hips. I wear with oversized cotton sweaters, crop tops, or fitted tanks usually. When they hit at my hips they’re just at the tops of my shoes, when I wear them with a belt around my natural waist they’re cropped.
